Reuters Health - 09/02/2022 - Endovascular therapy more than doubles the likelihood of significantly reduced disability for patients with larger cerebral infarctions, even though the treatment is not recommended under current guidelines, according to the findings of a Japanese trial.  But the therapy also carries a greater risk of intracranial hemorrhage, according to the non-blinded randomized test in 203 patients.  Current guidelines recommend endovascular therapy for patients with an ASPECTS score of at least 6. The higher the number on the 10-point scale, the lower the infarct burden.
